Our favorite places in Bali

Just came back from Bali. Great atmosphere, packed with european tourists enjoying their summer holidays (so many froggies I almost felt on the French Riviera!).

Bali has thousands of amazing hotels, villas, bars clubs and restaurants so I won’t pretend to give a shortlist of the best places to go on the Island, but here is where we particularly like to hang out in Seminyak and enjoy the best Bali can offer.

1. The Oberoi

A beachside haven on Seminyak Beach. Built in traditional Balinese style, you can relax in charming thatched roof villas, garden bathrooms and exquisite interiors featuring Balinese art. Enjoy the view from the swimming pool that looks out at the ocean.

Can you spot PZ working on her laptop?

2. Ku De Ta

The uber famous restaurant in Seminyak, with tables and king size sofas set along the catwalk above the beach, with good music. An incredible and idyllic place to share a drink at sunset (and next door to The Oberoi!) Celebrating 10 years when we were there.

3. Sarong

Ambient lighting, open space, cosy sofas and armchairs, chandeliers, this very groovy restaurant is quite different from what you can find on the island. You can almost believe you having a drink at someone’s home. Adjacent to the restaurant is a large bar with huge wall mirror an ornamental pool to enjoy the end of the night. We love it.

4. Metis

This great restaurant is configured as an open-plan “U” with the central area a small grassy tableau, behind which sits the paddy views. A long, luminescently green bar and casual lounge area runs along the right leg of the U ending in a sunken bar that juts directly into the paddy. Own by a French chef, the menu is French Mediterranean cuisine, if you want a break from asian dishes!

So, what are you waiting for!

  1. Wow Metis looks way more modern than Kafe Warisan and the paddy fields actually look more appealing than what it was before 🙂 We must have been one of the last few diners at the old joint so must go back and try this out!

One of our favourites is Mozaic in Ubud- another Michy-starred, uber romatic, lush jungle dining spot even if it is a bit of a trek 🙂
