Mandarin Grill & MO Bar Opening

We were recently invited to the grand opening of the Mandarin Grill and MO Bar at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, and what an evening! We were treated to an all-out 5-star luxury affair with the fabulous new decor, fantastic food and a fashion show by Melium.

The minute I entered, it was nothing to what I’d expected. Gone was the old Pacifica Bar and Grill, instead before me was a spacious, gorgeous modern restaurant open right to the KLCC Park – the only restaurant with access and view of the park.

French chef Cedric Darthial, awarded Best Chef of the Year 2009, surprised us with delights such as pumpkin veloute, perfectly grilled wagyu beef (similar to Japanese kobe beef), scallops, chocolate ganash for dessert… I could go on so I’d recommend you try it first!

After the dinner, Melium presented their fashion show with designs amongst some were from Farah Khan, Herve Leger and Jenny Packham, before everyone retreated to the chillout lounge in the adjoining MO Bar.

All in all, it’s fantastic to have such a sexy restaurant so nearby to me (literally a hop away from home) and will no doubt be back. So the next time you’re in town, don’t forget to check out the newest kid on the block, Mandarin Grill.
